The Alumni and Retirement associations have programs in place that allow members to retain their email account post separation.

Business Systems (also known as Single Sign-On or SSO)

How to Get Access to UCSD Business Systems

Some business systems require prior authorization/training. A different password is required for campus email and network/departmental systems. A valid UCSD email address and an active, paid appointment is required to register for a new business systems account.

Affiliate Accounts

Affiliate accounts can be requested for collaborators or volunteers who DO NOT need to complete UCLearning training, Symptoms Reporting, or access to MyChart.

  • Affiliate accounts may be requested for up to 1 year.
  • A UCSD mailbox is not provisioned unless explicitly requested.
  • Limited access to software licenses.
  • Account deactivation occurs automatically after the account end date. Departments and PIs should contact Scripps IT to extend the account before the end date if the account is needed beyond the deadline.

*All accounts must be requested by Human Resources or PI

Contingent Worker Accounts

Contingent Worker (CWR) Accounts are requested for persons providing services to UCSD on a volunteer non-permanent basis or potentially paid by a 3rd party (e.g. consultant, contractor, etc.). A CWR is not an employee of the University of California and does not receive compensation through UCPath payroll.

  • A UCSD mailbox is not provisioned unless explicitly requested.
  • Limited access to software licenses.

*All accounts must be requested by Human Resources personnel.

Student Worker Account

Student Worker accounts should be requested for all students working at SIO such that the appropriate access to SIO resources and software licensing can be provisioned (and de-provisioned when appropriate) to the end user without affect to the student account.

  • Student Worker accounts are similar to Employee accounts in that the account itself is initiated by their respective human resources office during onboarding.

*All accounts must be requested by Human Resources personnel.
