Video: Drilling Beneath the Agulhas Current

Scripps paleoceanographer Richard Norris hosts this video postcard series from International Ocean Discovery Program Expedition 361. Norris is one of several scientists from around the world coring six sites at or near the Agulhas Current, the transition point between the Indian and Atlantic oceans. The scientists hope to understand how major climate change events of the past affected this key hub of ocean circulation. They are also investigating how changes in the Agulhas Current throughout history affected the climate of southern Africa. The cruise is scheduled to end on March 31.
