The University Distinguished Scholar Award recognizes exceptional scholarly accomplishments by senior professors who have compiled a substantial body of research. A paleontologist, Bill Ausich’s research has concentrated on Paleozoic crinoids, with a special emphasis on community paleoecology, extinction and origination responses to global climate change, macroevolutionary patterns, phylogeny, and systematics.
