Course Description: 

TENTATIVE

This course teaches fundamental aspects of physical and chemical volcanology with a major field study component on an active volcano on Hawaii (two weeks early September). Subjects are introduced in lectures and reinforced and expanded in field exercises. Students return to campus to attend regular lectures and to prepare final field report during fall quarter. Additional fees may be required.

Prerequisites: 
SIO 50, SIO 100, and Chem 6A, or consent of instructor. Department stamp required.
