All students are required to complete one of the approved UCSD Responsible Conduct of Research courses before taking their Qualifying Exam. Current students who previously advanced to candidacy and who will receive NSF or NIH support prior to the completion of their PhD are also required to complete one of the indicated courses.

Note that Scripps offers two courses, SIO 273A, typically offered in the winter quarter, and SIO 232, typically offered in spring quarter (listed under other courses on the ethics link). To receive course credit, you must register for the course using Webreg on Tritonlink.
In addition to the SIO ethics courses, there are several acceptable ethics courses offered through other departments at UCSD. The courses and home department may vary year to year.
