Please join us for the following AOS Seminar on Thursday, December 1st at 4:00PM in Spiess Hall Room 330:
Speaker: Matthew Alford,, Scripps Institute of Oceanogrpahy
Title: "Observing lee waves, lee eddies, internal tides and other dissipative processes in the ocean"
The ocean’s general circulation is sensitive to the way it interacts with topography, which can generate a variety of small-scale processes that then remove energy and momentum from the large-scale flow. I’ll discuss observations of these processes, including our recent trip to Palau, and the technology we use to make them.
