AOS Seminar: My brief escape from the Ivory Tower and why I came back (other than for the surf)

02/09/2017 - 4:00pm

Please join us this Thursday, February 9th at 4:00 pm in Spiess Hall 330 for the fourth AOS Seminar in the ‘Life After SIO’ series.

Dr. Phil Bresnahan, Scripps Institution of Oceanography

"My brief escape from the Ivory Tower and why I came back (other than for the surf)"

Abstract:

After graduating from the AOS curricular group in 2015, I took a position at an environmental non-profit named the San Francisco Estuary Institute where I did a little bit of everything related to in situ sensing of the San Francisco Bay (a little physics, a little chemistry, and a little biology). I'll talk a bit about how I found and ultimately chose the position, what I did while I was up there, and how I ended up back at Scripps. Hope to see you on Thursday!

Snacks and refreshments will be available at 4:00 pm. Please bring your own cup.

We look forward to seeing you there!

If you are interested in speaking next quarter, please contact aos-organizers@siomail.ucsd.edu.
