Sarah Allard, PhD
Title: The Soil Health Center: Advancing climate solutions and food security
Bio: Dr. Sarah Allard is the Executive Director of the UC San Diego Soil Health Center, which seeks to rapidly and meaningfully improve the state of the world’s soils through interdisciplinary innovation and community engagement. Her research seeks to improve our understanding of how microorganisms mediate soil health and to advance microbe-based solutions for food security and climate resilience.
Duncan Watson-Parris, PhD
Title: GAIA: Artificial Intelligence for Earth and Ocean Science
Bio: Dr. Duncan Watson-Parris leads the Climate Analytics Lab at UC San Diego, where he uses machine learning and satellite data to improve the accuracy of global climate models. He also directs the GAIA Initiative, which focuses on advancing the broader application of AI across Earth and ocean sciences. His work is supported by an NSF CAREER award, a Google Academic Research Award, and DARPA.
