We will celebrate the 50 years of SIO's contributions to advancing the theory of Plate Tectonics with a symposium on May 9-10, 2018. Of the many people and institutions involved in the “Plate Tectonics Revolution” of the late 60’s and early 70’s, a notable portion were SIO graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. This student-led, two-day celebration will feature shared talks, panel discussions (including a panel featuring women geoscientists), a lunch to connect alumni and current students, and a poster session social hour! Confirmed speakers include Dan McKenzie, Roger Anderson, Tanya Atwater, Bob Parker, and many others. A detailed schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
We invite you to come share in this momentous celebration. Please visit https://scripps.ucsd.edu/
