Salty Cinema Fall 2025
You're invited to our Salty Cinema film festival celebrating science, marine interdisciplinarity, storytelling, conservation, and the ocean. This season, we're delighted to feature stories of restoration, science, and community - our highlight film is the award winning feature Sequoias of the Sea! This season's theme is Tides of Renewal: Restorative Stories for a Changing World.
Short-films screening will be followed by a panel and audience Q&A. Confirmed panelists include: Natasha Benjamin (Director & Producer of Sequoias of the Seas), Dr. Jennifer Smith (Professor at SIO), Serge Dedina (Former mayor of Imperial Beach) and Melissa Torres (Birch Aquarium Aquarist).
*Salty Cinema is a student-driven public event hosted by the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (CMBC) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego.
