Applications may be submitted on line at: https://apol-recruit.ucsd.edu/apply/JPF01559
Applicants are required to specify at least one Scripps mentor (and no more than three mentors). Prior to submitting your application, you must contact members of the Scripps research staff working in your area of interest to initiate a potential collaboration. In order for your application to receive full consideration, the potential mentor(s) must submit a letter of support on your behalf. Mentors will receive instructions regarding their letter submission from the department.
You are responsible for ensuring that referees are willing to provide a letter. Two confidential reference letters, solicited electronically are due by 10/20/17 and must be submitted by the referee via the secure link provided from the application system.
Reference letters are a key factor in the decision process and should document:
Under what circumstances the referee has known you.
Your previous accomplishments and potential for conducting innovative research in your chosen field.
An overall evaluation of your past performance relative to other students at a comparable stage in their careers.
Mentor letters should address your willingness to serve as a mentor and also provide an assessment of the candidate's training, former work, and suitability for the proposed postdoctoral project and include:
Access to appropriate facilities.
Likely availability of matching second year funds.
