Bio

I am a PhD candidate at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, currently working as a graduate research assistant at the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E). My research is focused on studying extreme precipitation events across the United States--especially along the U.S. West Coast--and investigating the contribution of atmospheric rivers (ARs) to these events. In particular, I use hourly (and in some cases daily) precipitation observations as well as AR chronologies to 1) identify characteristics of precipitation events that most strongly modulate their hydrologic impacts, 2) investigate precipitation distributions within ARs as well as immediately before and after AR conditions, and 3) understand the characteristics and timing of extreme precipitation with respect to those of AR landfalls with the goal of improving prediction of and preparation for extreme AR-related precipitation and its hazards.
