CMBC and partners invite you to “Consider a Fish” – a interactive and informative evening for those interested in learning about local seafood – from ocean to boat to market to plate. On 6 December, CMBC, the San Diego Oceans Foundation, local fishers and others will gather together to learn about sea urchin, one of the most delicious and valuable local fisheries.
The purpose of this informal gathering is to bring together those both with interest and direct experience to increase knowledge about LOCAL seafood that could be promoted by various organizations to restaurants, grocers and consumers, ultimately developing a larger market for under-appreciated seafood and to support the economic viability of local fishers. The discussion will focus on the science, socio-economics (local, regional, global) and cultural aspects of sustainability, what we know, what we don’t know and what we need to consider for a product to be considered sustainable.
This is a pilot event – if folks are interested and the format works – there may be an opportunity to continue this as a series in the future.
It’s sure to be a fun and lively discussion. All are welcome.
