Monthly Public Tours

Notice: Tours have been canceled through May 2020. Although UC San Diego has not had any confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on campus, the University is proactively taking steps to help protect the community.

Scripps Institution of Oceanography offers free historical tours suitable for area residents, new faculty and staff, first-time visitors to our campus, and the general public. These one-hour tours held one Saturday morning each month are led by knowledgeable volunteer guides eager to show you the most notable features of our beautiful campus, including Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier.

Tour schedule and signup

Tours may fill up days or weeks in advance, especially during summer months. Reservations should be submitted no later than noon on the day before the tour.

Considerations for the Disabled: There are hills and steps in the standard tour. Please indicate on the reservation request form if you require assistance.

Parking: Public parking on campus is available on weekends and holidays in pay lots P002 and P003 off El Paseo Grande adjacent to Scripps Seaside Forum (see map). Permits can be purchased from the pay station in lot P003. Additional public parking is available on nearby streets. There is no public parking on campus Monday-Friday.
