Scripps Institution of Oceanography offers free historical tours to area residents, new faculty and staff, first-time visitors to our campus, and the general public. These 50-minute tours are led by knowledgeable volunteer guides who are eager to show you the most notable features of our beautiful campus, including the Scripps Pier.

For more than a century, Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego has played an important role in creating a healthier planet for future generations. Today, Scripps Oceanography is an international leader in furthering scientific understanding of the globe.  Groundbreaking discoveries at Scripps inspire solutions to some of the greatest environmental challenges we face today.

Please Note: Your tour reservation request should be submitted no later than noon on the day before the tour you’ve chosen.

Considerations for the Disabled: There are hills and steps in the standard tour.  Please indicate on the reservation request form if you require assistance.

Parking:  Parking in Scripps lots is by permit only Monday-Friday.  People visiting the Scripps campus during the business week will be required to park on the street.

On weekends and holidays, public parking is available in lots P002 and P003 and permits can be purchased from the pay station in lot P003. (Please note that the parking pay station is not activated for public parking Monday-Friday).
