Distribution: 
Restricted to the west Atlantic and the east Pacific, along with a recent report in the Mediterranean Sea.
Habitat: 
Epipelagic.
Size: 
10 - 40 mm
Diet: 
Feeds on microplankton, diatoms and copepods.
Predators: 
Oxycephalus (hyperiid amphipod).
Useful Facts or Characters: 

Shell-less as adults, have disc-shaped wings.  Adults have a pseudoconch. 

Natural History: 

Mucous feeding web can be up to 2 meters in diameter.
