Distribution: 
In the Pacific from 25° to 60° N.
Habitat: 
Epipelagic. Performs diel vertical migrations in the upper 200 meters.
Size: 
0.5 - 3.0 mm
Diet: 
Feeds on microplankton.
Predators: 
Salmon, whales, seabirds, gymnosomes and ringed seal.
Useful Facts or Characters: 

Sinistrally coiled shell lacking a keel. Two separate wings lie dorsal and lateral to the footlobes.

Natural History: 

As in many shell-bearing pteropods, the aragonitic shell is sensitive to changes in ocean pH.
