Small Boating
Program
Providing resources and training to enable researchers to safely conduct work on the water utilizing small craft.
The Scientific Boating Program at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego provides resources and training to enable researchers to safely conduct work on the water utilizing small craft, which include vessels up to 65’ in length. The program’s focus is to provide boat handling and other field training for students, researchers and staff; maintain shared use boats; and charter the R/V Bob and Betty Beyster for research use.
AUTHORIZATION AND TRAINING
Through the promulgation of effective standards, thorough training, and broad science support and oversight, the Scripps Scientific Diving Program promotes diving safety and scientific productivity.
AUXILIARY RESOURCES AND PROGRAMS
The Scripps Research fleet and the Scientific Diving Program provide students and faculty access to the global oceans and programs that train divers on safety and best practices for conducting science underwater.
