What We Do

The Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) Human Resources team supports the SIO Director’s Office and departments across Scripps by delivering responsive, practical HR guidance and services. We partner with SIO leadership, departmental HR contacts, and campus offices to support the full employee lifecycle—from hiring to retirement—and help foster a productive and positive workplace.

Our mission is to provide strategic, service-oriented HR support that helps SIO departments meet their goals while aligning with UC San Diego’s policies and values.

We advise on employee and labor relations, staffing and classification, compensation, performance management, training, and workforce planning. We also work closely with campus HR and policy experts to ensure SIO’s HR practices are consistent, fair, and mission-aligned.
