This is a group for queer-identifying students, staff, postdocs, researchers, faculty, and alumni at Scripps to connect, share resources, and be in community with each other. We host monthly informal meet-ups and plan events throughout the year.

Have you ever wondered what your advisor or committee member struggled with as a graduate student? What they struggle with now? Growing Up in Science is a conversation series that is not about science, but about becoming and being a scientist. At each event, one guest shares their life story, with a focus on struggles, failures, doubts, detours, and weaknesses.

Common topics include dealing with expectations (your own and others), impostor syndrome, procrastination, the role of luck, rejection, and conflicts with advisors, but these topics are always embedded in the speaker's…
