We've heard you! Based on SIO alumni parent feedback (thank you!), we are working to provide occasional weekend, family friendly alumni opportunities that are grounded in fun, service-learning in our beautiful San Diego backyard. I am thrilled to share the first two: guided, SIO alumni tidepool tours!
We're bringing an alumni reunion back to the water: join your fellow Scripps Oceanography alumni for a guided tour through the La Jolla tidepools! Catch up with former colleagues, make new connections, enjoy the outdoors, and rekindle your curiosity for the ocean. Expert naturalist and trained marine biologist Cypress Hansen will guide our group through the different layers of the intertidal zone with fun stories, fascinating science, and unique observations of the vibrant tidepool ecosystems.
The tour is 90 minutes and open to all SIO alumni and their families. The minimum age limit is five years old.
We'll cover uneven, sometimes slippery terrain, so closed-toe shoes are required, and general fitness and good balance are ideal. Bring layers, sun protections, and a curious mind!
This event takes place twice and, yes, you may sign up for both days if you wish!
