The Southern Ocean Carbon and Climate Observations and Modeling (SOCCOM) project is now based at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and we will be holding our annual meeting here June 24-27.  The first two days are for internal planning but we would like to invite you to participate in open sessions on June 26 and 27:

  • Thursday, June 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Scripps Seaside Forum)
    Open Southern Ocean Science Meeting
Agenda includes SOCCOM overview, Southern Ocean talks from Scripps and SOCCOM investigators, discussion of future planning for the Southern Ocean, including major upcoming polar programs (IPY5, Antarctica InSync), technical and OSSE developments, an open poster session (see registration form to submit your own poster). Lunch will be served, hence the registration head count.

  • Friday, June 27, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (Martin Johnson House)
    Early-Career Professional Development Session (half-day)
Scripps (and others attending) postdocs, grad students and others who self-identify as early career are very welcome to attend. There will be a panel and a vigorous facilitated open discussion on climate science career paths.

The meeting will have a hybrid format – please fill out this registration form to participate either in-person or virtually. More details will be posted on the SOCCOM website as we get closer to the event.
