Marcus Lehmann, CEO

CalWave Power Technologies Inc. will host a luncheon to introduce the status of the wave energy industry and CalWave's planned open ocean deployment to Scripps scientists and engineers.  The session will be segmented by general status, CalWave's technology, CalWave's demo project details so attendees can choose to attend one or both presentations, depending upon area(s) of interest.

Introduction of the current status of US and global activities in ocean energy with specific focus on wave energy conversion technology and current completed, ongoing and planned demonstrations as well as state of the science of environmental acceptance of ocean energy systems.

Opportunities and challenges of wave energy converters for ocean users with specific focus on ocean instrumentation, sensing and navigational aid, AUVs and remote micro grids as part of the new initiative by the US DOE called "Powering the Blue Economy", details at:  https://www.energy.gov/eere/water/powering-blue-economy-exploring-opportunities-marine-renewable-energy-maritime-markets

CalWave develops a game-changing next generation and patent pending Wave Energy Converter to harness the vastly available, predictable and stable energy from ocean waves to serve coastal communities. CalWave is a spin out from UC Berkeley, graduated from Cyclotron Road at the end of 2016 and was awarded by DOE US Wave Energy Prize. In 2017, CalWave was awarded for a multi-million demonstration contract by the US DOE and is currently advancing towards a deployment in collaboration with Scripps off the research pier.
