Scripps Institution of Oceanography alumna Oriana Poindexter (MAS MBC `15) creates cyanotypes; immersive pieces created in collaboration with the sun and the ever-evolving sea. Join her for a deeply interactive workshop to learn this artistic process and use organic subjects - kelp, algae, shells and marine debris - to create your own take-home cyanotype print using photochemistry techniques first developed in the 1840s. The resulting prints are records of the state of the ocean and your creative process on that particular day, drawn in the blue and white palette of the sea itself.
