BIO

I am a doctoral candidate at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, exploring the distortion of acoustic energy propagating through the upper ocean. The upper ocean has many different physical processes both wind and tidally driven that cause strong ocean sound speed fluctuations. The intrinsic link between the propagation of acoustic energy and the driving physics in the ocean means there is mutual information in the observations of both systems. Understanding this link improves our ability to measure the ocean through means of acoustic remote sensing, as well as our ability to process environmental distortions of acoustic signals.
