BIO

Lauren Kim received her BS in physics with a minor in Physiology from Cal Poly Pomona in 2017. She then moved to San Diego to pursue her PhD in physical oceanography at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and received her MS in oceanography in 2019. Currently, she works with her advisors Mark Merrifield and Sarah Giddings in studying the effects of hurricanes on beach morphology using stationary LiDAR. She also is researching the ability of drone-mounted LiDAR to measure waves and wave runup.
