The state of the world’s coral reefs in the era of ocean acidification is the subject of “The Last Reef,” a 3-D documentary coming soon to IMAX theaters. Scripps oceanographer Dale Stokes, aquarist Fernando Nosratpour, and several others converted a Scripps laboratory into a studio where filmmakers used state-of-the-art optical equipment to gather close-up views of marine life that will give moviegoers a view of coral reefs they have never seen before. This video gives viewers a look at what goes into making such a technologically advanced film.
