In the News Now: Why Emissions Verification is Essential to the Paris Agreement


The COP21 climate accord in December secured pledges from countries around the world to report their emissions of greenhouse gases. But how can we know if those reports are accurate. In an analysis in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Scripps Oceanography Distinguished Professor Emeritus Ray Weiss argues for the need for a global atmospheric monitoring network if the Paris Agreement is to work.
