Nigella Hillgarth Education Plaza Dedicated at Birch Aquarium at Scripps

Chancellor Khosla joined campus members and community friends to celebrate and thank Robert and Allison Price for the educational opportunities they are providing through Price Philanthropies to students from underserved communities all over San Diego County. Their generous $6 million gift to UC San Diego’s Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography will expand student access to our existing educational outreach programs and also support the development of an innovative new education program. Thousands of students will benefit from the expanded access and programs. The gift also recognizes the work and contributions of former Birch Aquarium Executive Director, Nigella Hillgarth, and the outdoor education plaza was named after her.
