The technology needs of oceanographers often require the development of highly specialized field instruments. The Marine Science Development Center at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, designs and fabricates a wide range of equipment to the specifications of researchers, including these floats created for Scripps physical oceanographer Uwe Send in early 2014.
