Mooring engineers repair a faulty sensor on a buoy Sept. 5, 2011 during a deployment in the Indian Ocean to collect atmospheric measurements of the Madden-Julian Oscillation, a pattern of coupled atmospheric circulation and tropical deep convection. R/V Revelle deployed a series of moorings, then had an extensive weather station built on the ship and collected data for several months. R/V Revelle is seen on the horizon conducting surveys.
