A humpback whale breaching outside of San Diego Bay entertained whale watchers for nearly an hour on Feb. 7. Humpbacks have been less commonly seen in San Diego this year than the gray whales that are currently traveling in local waters during their annual migration from the Bering Sea to breeding grounds in Baja California. Whale watching tours offered by Flagship Cruises and Events and Birch Aquarium at Scripps continue through April. Photo: Chris Fitzsimmons/BAS
