California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom holds a copy of “Bending the Curve” (PDF), a University of California report laying out the university’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality during an April 26 meeting with Scripps scientists Veerabhadran Ramanathan, who led the report, and Dan Cayan, head of the California Nevada Applications Program.
Scripps scientists play a leading role in advising state leaders on the latest findings of the climate research community to help state officials plan for occurrences that could affect the state’s economy and public health and safety. Newsom’s briefing was complemented by recent visits to Scripps by State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon and California Natural Resources Agency Undersecretary Thomas Gibson.
