The California Department of Water Resources released "CalWater AR Research," a short film on the CalWater 2015 campaign, which is a component of a multi-year study by Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, NOAA, and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory of atmospheric rivers (ARs). ARs are channels of water vapor in the atmosphere that can bring California up to 50 percent of its water during brief intense storms. Researchers are studying the meteorological dynamics of ARs and also observing how tiny airborne particles called aerosols that seed clouds can change the nature of ARs.
