Photo of the Week: Drift Compatible

Scripps Oceanography research vessel Sally Ride is no stranger to pulling things out of the water, but this week the ship's crew hauled in a different catch. Photo by Second Mate Randy Christian.

Sally Ride was sailing off the coast of California conducting a quarterly survey for California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) on June 17 when it was asked to recover the Anne. The rowboat had been used by a team participating in the Great Pacific Race, but the crew of two had to abandon the boat for a medical emergency.
