Software
There are two mandatory campus security packages. Using our installers rather than the generic ones available from the campus site allows us to determine immediately that the agents have been installed on SIO systems. Otherwise, they get mixed in with all the other UC San Diego systems.
- Anti-Malware (Trellix HX)

Features
- Recognizes behaviors of ransomware and prevents it from encrypting files.
- Allows the return of files to a known good state if the ransomware does somehow manage to encrypt files.
- Available for macOS, Windows, Linux.
IGPP research groups should contact IGPP's Help Desk.
All other SIO groups can use these Trellix HX packages.Note that for personal devices, Sophos Home for Windows, Mac or Linux is an option.
- Vulnerability Detection (Qualys)

- Looks for older and vulnerable software packages.
- Available for macOS, Windows, Linux, Solaris, ...
IGPP research groups should follow these instructions to install Qualys.
All other SIO groups can use these Qualys packages.

VPN creates a virtual connection over public networks. Cisco VPN is required in order to connect to campus resources such libraries, systems, and servers.

Duo Two-Step Authentication

Login credentials are more important than ever as we remote work. Duo two-step login initiates once a user has entered their username and password. Two-step login increases account security be preventing anyone but the user from accessing their account, even if the password has been compromised.

Managed Lab Machine Enrollment Form
The following services will be provided on a per machine monthly charge:
Lab computers (computers attached to lab equipment) without any user management or Linux desktop computers. Scripps IT will ensure that the managed computer will remain in compliance with UCSD Network Security Standards by installing routine security patches, firewall management and attending to virus abatement.
