Student Spaces

Several classroom spaces on the Scripps campus are available for students to reserve for meetings or to use as study space. These spaces are:

  • Eckart Fishbowl (conference room)
  • Eckart SeaCave​
  • Eckart 227
  • Eckart 229 (conference room)
  • Eckart 236
  • Nierenberg Hall 101
  • Spiess Hall 330
  • Vaughan Hall 100
  • Vaughan Hall 300 (conference room)
  • Vaughan Hall 328 (conference room)
  • Vaughan Hall 348 (conference room)

These spaces can be reserved by filling out the Room Reservations request form (or by calling the Eckart reception desk at 858-534-3206). Please note that many rooms require a code to enter. You may use the calendar below to check their availability and request to use them as study spaces if they are not booked.


All spaces on the 2nd floor of the Eckart Building are available for use Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. There is currently no weekend access. The student spaces listed below do not require a formal reservation, and are available to self-reserve by stopping in the day of and writing your name on the window:

  • Eckart study room 228

The Eckart building has a dedicated graduate student quiet study room that requires no reservation to use. Workstations inside are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but do require your current SIO Graduate Student ID card for entry:

The Revelle Family Student Center (Surfside)

Scripps graduate students may use the Surfside student lounge for small events, meetings, or for study space. Depending on the size of the event, there may be a cost associated with the use of the space.
