The Oceanographic Data Facility (ODF) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography provides high-quality, competitively-priced technical services and equipment to government agencies, educational institutions, and private organizations throughout the world. The highly experienced personnel and diversity of services provide the high quality reference data required to meet scientific program objectives.
The Oceanographic Data Facility (ODF) is comprised of data processors and chemistry technicians, all of which can be hired for work at sea and for shore-based projects. ODF provides comprehensive hydrographic data collection and processing, as well as water sample collection and high-accuracy chemical analysis. ODF is part of Shipboard Technical Support (STS).
ODF has made substantial contributions to the oceanographic community, with personnel participating in numerous large-scale, worldwide oceanographic expeditions since 1972 and Geochemical Ocean Sections Study (GEOSECS). Laboratory personnel have participated in many major oceanographic expeditions including WOCE, JGOFS, CLIVAR, SBI, GEOTRACES, and GO-SHIP. These expeditions require a high level of technical expertise, extensive planning, and complicated logistical support. ODF also provides support for small-scale projects as well as technical consultations and equipment training and rentals.
