SIO/STS runs a website on the ship's intranet that streamlines data distribution, data submission, and communication among the science party. The front page contains a dashboard with estimated time of arrival while in-transit to the next station. While on-station, this widget displays and periodically refreshes the current wire-out, allowing scientists to see the current status of the cast from their workstations.
The website also allows analysts to see processed sensor data, such as CTD salinity, immediately after the cast has completed. After discrete water samples have been processed, analysts can submit data through the website, which automatically validates and merges data into a relational database. Once submitted, analysts can further quality control their data by making customizable plots, such as T-S plots or interpolated cross sections, and compare their data with other values reported during the cruise.
This website also allows the science party to share documents and make shipwide news announcements. A real-time track map can also be found on this website.
