For cruises that start and end in United States ports, SIO vessels depart at 0800 and arrive at 1600.
For cruises that start and/or end in international ports, SIO vessels depart at 1600 and arrive at 0800.
Other departure or arrival times require approval by the marine superintendent, which can be coordinated by the SIO Ship Scheduling Office. In some cases other departure or arrival times may be required for safe navigation due to local conditions.
Standard departure time is 0800. For day trips, departures earlier than 0800 or arrivals later than 1800 require the consent of the marine superintendent, which can be coordinated by the SIO Ship Scheduling Office.
R/V Robert G. Sproul is billed on a 24-hour day basis (as opposed to a calendar day basis), with a one day minimum. For example, a trip that departs San Diego at 0800 and returns the following calendar day at 0700 will be billed for one day's use.
