For ship time to be used during calendar year 2016
DEADLINE: Proposals are due Monday, 30 NOV 2015.
REVIEW: Proposals will be reviewed in DEC 2015
AWARDS: Awards will be announced by JAN 2016.
The UC Ship Funds Program is now soliciting proposals from students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty and staff for ship time aboard research vessels operated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
Awards pay for ship time and the operation of standard shipboard instrumentation at sea. For student cruises, limited funds are available for cruise-related expenses (for instance non-standard shipboard instrumentation, shipping, travel, data processing, or sample analysis costs). To be considered, these costs should be specifically described and estimated in the proposal.
Please see the links in the menu at right for information regarding eligibility, priority of proposals, and how to apply.
Proposals for work during the periods of availability below are solicited.
If you intend to submit a proposal, please contact SIO ship scheduler Liz Brenner to check vessel availability.

Eligibility: Scripps, UCSB, UCSC
When: October - November 2016, 10 days of ship time
Where: Hawai`i, Palau
Roger Revelle has a planned maintenance period in Honolulu ending 08 OCT 2016. The ship is available for UC Ship Funds Program between then and 06 NOV 2016, when the vessel must arrive in Palau for it's next scheduled mission. Taking into account transit and load/offload days, there are approximately 10 operational days available to conduct UC Ship Funds Program work. This could be done round trip Honolulu to Honolulu, or as part of a cruise from Honolulu to Palau. Travel support for students is available thanks to the generous support from the E.W. Scripps Associates.
